The Palestinian Hydrogen Group, in cooperation with the Institute of Environmental and Water Studies at Birzeit University, organized, within the Women and Water Network project, a training workshop entitled “Gender and Water” on 20/12/2021, targeting the category of female engineers and graduates of the graduate programs at Bizet University.
The Director of the Institute of Environmental and Water Studies, Dr. Nidal Mahmoud on the importance of gender balance from an academic and applied perspective with regard to the management and implementation of water and environmental projects, and the Institute’s contribution to enhancing the role of women in the fields of water and environment, as 44% of graduates of master’s programs in water and environment are women, and review the standards adopted by the Institute to ensure justice and gender balance, specifically with regard to grants to students, training and the selection of consultants to implement the Institute's projects.
Also added Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Tamimi about the importance of introducing new projects and opening horizons for strategic thinking to integrate, empower and enhance women in the water and environment sector, including the skill of finding new non-traditional job opportunities such as the field of scientific research in the water and environment sector, writing proposals for new projects and obtaining funding for them, or for example Exploiting technology and the Internet, working online in the field of teaching, or participating in online scientific research. Also added Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Tamimi stressed the need to refine skills, excellence and privatization in the fields of work and specializations.
